Trading software

In a comment to a recent post, Ricardo introduced me to a trading application called 'Traderline'. Being of an inquisitive nature off I toddled to the site and downloaded the application for a 30 day trial.

Installation was easy enough and once registered with Betfair as a user of the software I opened it up and had a nose around. The interface is excellent, and one of its key selling points is that it enables the trader to have live in-play stats and (where available) video of the event being traded. It features the usual software attributes such as a grid / ladder interface, hedging, stop loss and other tools. There is also a bookmaker / dutching tool so it is fully featured.

For me, good as this is, I prefer Geeks - for the simple reason that I normally have multiple games and markets on the go at once and I can't see a realistic way of doing that with this application. If, however, your preference is to trade one event at a time, and stats and watching the event are important to you I would suggest this is well worth taking a look at.

  1. Be extremely cautious with this one. There have been a number of serious issues with it to date including it locking up peoples Betfair accounts and other errors costing them money. They are somewhat amateur with people’s security too as was pointed out a few weeks back.

      Hi Alex,
Traderline is a betfair certified program now. Which means the code is reviewed by Betfair itself, and it cannot contain any incorrections, security issues etc.
The issues you reported existed, for a brief period of time, back in January. Betfair wouldn´t certify Traderline if it was dangerous for they users :)

      To correct your mis-information....

      1. "Traderline is a betfair certified program now. "

Traderline always was a Betfair certified program.

      2. "Which means the code is reviewed by Betfair itself, and it cannot contain any incorrections, security issues etc."

This is a blatant lie, as Betfair shut you down in March due to your product compromising Betfair customers passwords, where you failed to even bother to warn people to change them until after 1 week when I pulled you up on forums about it.

      Betfair also shut you down again on Tuesday of this week because you were harvesting Betfair customer eMails illegally and sending those eMail addresses to your servers unencrypted multiple times a minute. { thus compromising those too }

      3. "The issues you reported existed, for a brief period of time, back in January. "

The password issue was March, and the data theft issues have been going on since February, even though you were told NOT to do this by Betfair.

      4. "Betfair wouldn´t certify Traderline if it was dangerous for they users :)"

Betfair did certify you, however in fairness to their security team they aren't used to dealing with this level of incompetence in a vendor.

So to summarise, Traderline is the most dangerous product I have seen in my years in this industry. The product can not be trusted, the programmers are dangerous, and there are serious integrity issues with the team.

But hey don't take my word for it, after all I'm just an extremely pissed of competitor who is sick of cleaning up your mess!"

  2. Hi,
Have you tried BetTrader Evolution? It's one of the first trading software and you can use it in the free mode, without any subscriptions. It has some pretty advanced options and the only difference between the free and paid one versions is API speed.
Give it a go, if you haven't done already.

    P.S.
Let me know, if you fancy exchanging links and I will add you here (http://www.kickoffprofits.co.uk/different-angle.php)

    Cheers

    1. Yes, I used to use Evo all the time, but now prefer Geek's (and I'm not saying that 'cos the man himself is posting here!) as I said in this post due to multi market nature of my trading.

  4. So Geek, has nothing to do with being a competitor? Just like you trash everybody else and you will trash more in the future.

Betfair didn't agree with Geeks words

    1. It has nothing to do with being a competitor. It has to do with being extremely pissed off at the fact that every time we stick our Betfair user name & password into Traderline, that our accounts were being seriously compromised in some way, and this has cost us a lot of time & money to rectify.

Throw in the unbelievable behavior of the team behind it who seem more interested in making false & misleading public statements than apologizing to users for compromising their accounts.

Add to that their programmers still haven't managed to get the hedging to work properly after 8 months, and yes my advice to anyone is to use any product but this one.

In fact here's a full list of the better products for Windows that people can try without the serious risks that we have seen in Traderline...

      Bet Angel
      Fairbot
      BetTrader Evolution
      Gruss Betting Assistant
      Cymatic
      BotBeetle

You also have a lot to learn about Betfair too. Let's face it, if the below wasn't true they would have made us take it down by now. ;)
